From the Editor: New year, new ideas

Happy new year and welcome to the January issue of Northwest Baby & Child!

January is the time of year when parents need to start thinking about educational options for next fall. Many preschools and kindergartens hold open houses starting in January. This month, we present resources for schools throughout greater Puget Sound. We’ll help you do your homework now for next year!

One school option is Montessori education, and we offer an article about this type of learning experience. New to our publication is writer Kelly O’Connor, who, in addition to writing the Montessori article, will cover family friendly activities on the Kitsap penninsula for Northwest Baby & Child.

Early education can be great fun as Heather Rader points out in her article about the “Good For You” exhibit at the Hands-on Children’s Museum in Olympia.

A new year provides an opportunity to start fresh and create some new healthy family rituals and habits. Dance with your baby, read aloud, learn a new game, eat together, take a nature walk, feed the birds, or just enjoy being together. Who cares if it’s raining?
