Spending, saving, and sharing with Moonjar

Parents around the world have different criteria for when, how, and why they talk with their children about money. Some offer allowances, some don’t; some feel inadequate at this job, while others are empowered.

Regardless of your personal relationship with money, Moonjar has something to offer the entire family.

Moonjar moneyboxes are tools for children and families to incorporate strong financial values and practices into their daily lives.

Each Moonjar consists of three moneyboxes (Spending, Saving, and Sharing); a family guide to get you started; a passbook to record deposits and withdrawals; and a Moonjar elastic band to hold the assembled boxes together.

Launched in 2001 by Eulalie M. Scandiuzzi, a Seattle native, Moonjar’s mission is to “enforce the vital need for a fun, accessible, and affordable tool to help change how children develop a basic understanding of good money habits.” Moonjar is also the winner of a 2004 Global Learning Initiative Award for Educational Excellence.

Peruse the website and you will find affordable products and a selection of support whether you are a teacher, non-profit, financial institution, or parent. Want to learn about passbook savings?
