Fathers and men involved in the life of a child with special health care needs or developmental disabilities are invited to attend the South King County Fathers Network every other Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Children's Therapy Center in Kent. The program's informal biweekly meetings provide a setting for dads to share resources as well as their personal joys and challenges when raising a child with special needs. The time together will be upbeat, enjoyable, and informative. Attendees will meet some terrific men, all committed to being involved, knowledgeable dads for their children. Men attending will also share ideas about how this program can best support them and their families. Professional childcare is available at no charge. The South King County Fathers Network is a subsidiary of Washington State Fathers Network (WSFN), which was founded in 1993 on the belief that fathers are crucially important in their children's and families' lives. There are 17 programs throughout the state. The WSFN publishes Connections newsletter, sponsors regional conferences and an annual Statewide Fathers Conference each October, provides an informational website, and promotes activities for the entire family. A calendar of events including meeting dates can be found on the Children's Therapy Center website. Please call the Children's Therapy Center at 253-854-5660 for more information. |
