Meet our advertisers: Northwest Medical Supply |
With so many mothers returning to work after having their babies, it's important to know the breastfeeding relationship does not have to end just because you will be separated from your baby for a few hours each day. One way to keep up your milk supply, as well as provide important nourishment for your nursling, is to buy or rent a breast pump. Northwest Medical Supply offers a variety of breast pumps, ranging from hospital grade to hand pumps. They carry two of the best brands available-Medela and Ameda. Their hospital grade breast pump is used by Northwest Hospital and this useful rental pump comes with a kit that includes all the parts and instructions you will need to ensure your milk will be best suited for your baby.
Located on the Campus of Northwest Hospital, you can meet all your medical needs with one stop. Northwest Medical Supply originally opened for patients who were discharged from the hospital, but today people come from as far south as Renton to purchase and rent the supplies they offer. Owner, Kay Engle, is proud to provide the community with a needed resource for today's mothers. Northwest Medical Supply also has a pharmacy, so you can have prescriptions filled while you shop for other supplies. For example, if you have cracked nipples, they have wound care that will help them heal quickly. They also carry fenugreek tea (believed to help increase milk supply), a variety of Avent products, including bottle nipples and pacifiers. They carry maternity belts, a maternity sports bra by Medela, and other supplies you may need after having your baby, including different kinds of thermometers.
Having been in the pump business for more than 15 years, Northwest Medical Supply's staff is knowledgeable and can help you find the product you need for your situation and also provide instruction on how to use it. They provide instructions for the pumps they rent and sell, as well as other information such as transitioning back to work, milk storage guidelines, and other useful information. Cleaning the parts for pumps in many cases is a lot easier than it used to be. They even have a pump that comes with instructions on how to rinse and put it in the microwave to sterilize it.
If you need to go back to work or be separated from your baby for other reasons, a breast pump may be just the solution you are looking for. For more information please call Northwest Medical Supply at 206-365-2277.
