When the phone rings, Judi answers it. She is a self-proclaimed workaholic, making herself available to her business, Nannybroker Inc, 24 hours a day. "I live, eat, and breathe my business. It is my passion." What a remarkable statement considering she has been placing nannies in the area since 1985. After seven years in the business, she wrote So You Want to Hire Your Own Nanny, a book filled with guidelines and information for parents wanting to find a nanny on their own. Judi has known many of the nannies she places for years, and thinks of them as family. "I am an advocate for nannies' rights and I support the International Nanny Association and Northwest Nanny Association," she remarks. Both of these nonprofit organizations are committed to education, networking, and general support for nannies. With her genuine concern for the nannies, she relies mostly on word of mouth to find additional staff. Judi takes a great deal of pride in finding the right match for a family. "My focus is on quality matches, I want to find a fit for a family that reflects their values and parenting style." She strikes a balance with a thorough interviewing process and her instincts-having been a nurse for many years-to find the right match for a family. "If I do not have a good match for a family I try and help them in other ways. I love helping people." Judi has a strong belief in family. "In the past I have talked a potential client out of getting a nanny, and years later she thanked me." To learn more about Judi's business or to order her book, visit her website. |
